Classic Chocolate Cupcakes Without Frosting: Tasty and Simple Cupcake Treat

Classic chocolate cupcakes without frosting – one of the easiest cupcake recipes that anyone can prepare and so so tasty! Here you have the classic chocolate cupcake recipe but finished with simple powdered sugar topping. It’s quick to prepare and great for beginners because there is no frosting to worry about.

Usually, chocolate cupcakes are considered to be one of those recipes that are harder to prepare. Indeed, if you look at most recipes for chocolate cupcakes, you will notice that there are much more ingredients and skills needed for their preparation in comparison to, let’s say, the classic vanilla cupcake recipes. In addition, frosting has to be made and that is sometimes a real challenge for beginners cupcake bakers. Well, here is how you can make delicious classic chocolate cupcakes without frosting that are simply delicious. You can have a batch of 12 cupcakes in less than an hour and only using six main ingredients. Let’s begin!

Ingredients:

  • 120g non salted butter, softened 
  • 120g casted sugar
  • 20g powder sugar
  • 120g flour 
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 50g cocoa powder
  • A pinch of salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 120ml milk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

That’s all the ingredients you need – nothing fancy, in fact every basic component is a product you are most likely to have in your pantry.

How to prepare these classic chocolate cupcakes without frosting:

  1. Preheat your oven to 180 C
  2. In a large bowl sift the flour with the baking powder, cocoa powder and a pinch of salt.
  3. Place cupcake cases in a 12 cupcake tray
  4. Beat the softened butter with the sugar.
  5. After the sugar is well incorporated into the butter and the mixture is pale yellow and fluffy, whisk in the eggs, one at a time. Add the vanilla extract to the mixture.
  6. Start adding small amounts of milk and flour to the mix the and gently whisk it in. Continue to add milk and flour until all is in. It is better to use a low speed on the electric whisk for this step or do it by hand with a wooden spoon.
  7. Spoon the mixture into the cupcake cases filling them 2/3 to the top.
  8. Bake for 17-22 minutes until the cupcakes have risen and soft to the touch. You can check if they are ready by inserting a toothpick into the middle section of a cupcake snd checking if it comes out clean.
  9. Take the cupcake tray out of the oven and transfer the cupcakes to a wire rack and to cool.
  10. Sprinkle powdered sugar on top of each cupcake and enjoy!

These classic chocolate cupcakes without frosting are perfect for a sweet treat anytime during the day. Despite the fact that they lack fancy buttercream or chocolate frosting, they are great for social occasions as well.
